Buck Showalter: Still Dumb as Rocks

We already knew that, remember? Well, he said something last night might be worse. (Thanks to reader Andrew for the tip.)

During a discussion about how the Red Sox have a lot of "homegrown" players, he had this to say:

The pitcher pitching tonight; you could argue he's homegrown.

On the mound for Boston at the time? Daisuke Matsuzaka. Yeah, paying $100 million to pluck an established free agent from the Japanese League... that's how you develop your own players. No question.

I guess his argument was that Boston was the only U.S. team that had had Matzusaka?

Which, it seems, is kind of like a girl dating a guy who had fucked dozens of other guys and telling her friends he's a virgin.

We need a "comment of the week/month" feature. Badly.

The beer in my fridge ... you could argue it's homegrown.

If elected comment ombudsman, I promise to become so drunk with power that no one will dare comment on any article for fear of banishment.

Perhaps Dice was a member of Red Sox Nation back in Japan? It being a worldwide cult and all. That would make him homer-grown at least.

You should honestly be able to use tasers on people that say things like this.
