A dark day for the internet...

Chilling here in my Mom's basement on a Friday, I was feeling a little bored, so I cruised over to the Worldwide Leader.com to see what was up. Oh, what's this? A new BS Report, with Michael Schur? Yes please. Despite his shortcomings, I like Simmons (Larry: hate, hate, hate), and I like Ken Tremendous enough that I was excited to listen to their podcast. Quickly, the topic turned to Cousin Mose's former blog and this exchanged occured:

"I was honored to make it a couple times" -- BS
"You did make it a couple times" - Mose
"As a target..."
"It wasn't for things that were untrue though. We always thought of you as one of the good guys, 'cause you actually had facts to back up whatever you were saying."

The world weeps....

You're just jealous of whoever it is you're jealous of.

In defense of Ken Tremendous, he never wrote a simmons article on FJM so it's not like he was backtracking from things he's said before. Simmons is unique and unlike any other sportswriter. I don't understand the hate. Isn't he basically your dream writer? someone who doesn't just automatically follow the accepted way of writing about sports.

So I guess making shit up about how the crowd at Boston sporting events magically affects the outcome of games is pretty much the same thing as having facts.

Anonymous is right that the standard/accepted way of writing about sports sucks. Anonymous is very, very wrong in assuming that Simmons' approach is any better. I'd rather read the same old moronic crap than "Choose Boston-related topic. Pop culture reference! Story about my family! Contrived stance based on no facts which is totally overstated! End column."

He does have a pretty good podcast with the now retired Ombudswoman, who comes across as about 10x smarter then Bill. She also makes you weep and wish that she was in charge of Sportscenter at the very least on ESPN. Bill seems to try to get her to decry the interwebs a couple times, and call out bloggers as the devil, but she refuses to, and eventually he says something to the effect of "oh I don't consider them the enemy either." It comes across, um, not all that sincere sounding to my little ears though.

As for the Ken Tremendous interview, I just wish Ken had said something like "Well we only hit you a couple times, because your column never had any facts to rip apart." ~watches teh collective will power of Red Sox/Celtic fans fix the economy, end hunger, and create world peace~ If only Tebow would lead the Church of Boston Sports Fan, we would truly live in the Golden Age of Mankind.
