HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA of course.
Of course, ESPN suspended Simmons for saying mean hurtful things about Roger "Huge Piece of Shit" Goodell on Simmon's podcast. Of course. Nice try, ESPN/God/higher powers that are in charge of the universe. Trying to get me to take Bill's side? Good effort. I instead choose to not address the situation, other than in this post. Fuck ESPN. Fuck Roger Goodell. But still, also fuck Bill Simmons.
I hate everything.

Only 3 weeks? He practically dared them to suspend him. Can't wait to see if he mouths off in the next 3 weeks like he threatened to. He probably won't, though, since he knows who butters his bread.
The silver lining in all this is no picks columns for 3 weeks...
I predict that ESPN/Grantland will put out some of their best work due to the Ewing Theory potential of this suspension...
No one's asking the big question. How are we going to remember this in ten years? Is Bill Simmons the Russell Crowe of sports writing? He can say eff you to his bosses, but he'll still get work because people like him. Or is he a b-list bad boy like Colin Farrell?
I can't believe the support this hack is getting on Twitter #FreeBillSimmons. Everything with him is a rehash of stale ideas. If he were fired, where would he go? I hope I get to find out soon.
I hope that most of his support is merely a reflection of displeasure with the NFL/ESPN. It's annoying no doubt; Bill Simmons the martyr. I just love that ESPN called his bluff. Oh, you might go public? Shut up, Bill. And John Skipper's charazterization of Simmons as a "lets-go-to-Vegas bad boy" is great; if only because Simmons actually thinks he embodies that persona. One positive outcome of Simmons' suspension, aside from the hilarity it's engendered, is that Bill Barnwell typed the picks column this week.
Skipper's statement chided Simmons for making comments "not based on facts." Has Simmons ever written a single thing based on facts?
I hope they can suspend him in the future for "asinine theories based on cherry-picked data that don't provide any insight or entertainment value."
