“The Pro Football Writers of America, the official voice of pro football writers fighting and promoting for access to NFL personnel to best serve the public, is extremely disappointed in the lack of meaningful access to Seattle running back Marshawn Lynch at the Super Bowl XLVIII media day on Tuesday,” the PFWA said in a statement issued by president D. Orlando Ledbetter.
“Several of our long-standing and high profile members were appalled by Mr. Lynch’s conduct and refusal to answer any questions. We find the statement that by the league that ‘Players are required to participate and he participated’ to be an affront to our membership. However, we are encouraged that the league will continue to closely monitor this situation.”
DIE DIE DIE DIE DIE DIE DIE
Your move, BBWAA.
Super Bowl media day is a joke. I hope Lynch does just enough to not get fined by the NFL. These self-important asshole writers need to quit whining.
ReplyDeleteActually, I stumbled upon the Dr. V - Mariotti article by Google searching all the commentary regarding Simmons' fuck-up. However, I was thrilled to learn someone had hired him. How often do you get a chance as a local sports website to hire a no-talent hack that plead no contest to assaulting his girlfriend?
Tell me you had a chance to read this on Mariotti's new site:

I know it's low-hanging fruit and all, but I would love to see you destroy it, if you have time.
Personally, I would love to see the PFW complain that Pete Carroll did not answer any questions about 9/11 on Media Day. Unfortunately, the PFW abdicated their duties and did not ask any.
ReplyDeleteWhy is the PFW now silent on 9/11???
"fighting and promoting for access..."
ReplyDeleteThis guys is the head of a group of writers?
I'd mention that Guy Talese wrote what many consider the best article ever about a man to whom he had no access at all, but Marshawn Lynch Has a Cold sounds like the worst idea for a Grantland article ever.
ReplyDeleteA couple of things I love about this... First: "access to NFL personnel to best serve the public"... fuck off! If the goal was to best serve the public, we wouldn't have to hear about things like how often Peyton Manning says "Omaha" or what kinds of orgies Rex Ryan and Mark Sanchez might be having in the Bahamas (made that one up, but is it really that far-fetched?). Second: Does Ledbetter really have that kind of sense of entitlement? I think he really believes the NFL would die without the Pro Football Writers of America. Uggh.
