Who Is Joba Chamberlain and Why Is He the Most Newsworthy Athlete of All Time?

Currently on ESPN- a front page link to this article, which contains discussion about a topic that is only slightly more relevant than what the average NFL punter ate for breakfast yesterday. The article's corresponding poll, meanwhile, wants to know what you think of Chamberlain's so-called antics. I was unable to answer, because "Who gives a kiddie pool-sized pile of shit?" was not one of the options.

  2. Personally, I thought Papelbon's ass grab of Varitek at the end of the World Series was a bit more disturbing.

  3. I really have no idea what is so great about him, other than he plays in a large market and there are those that are convinced he is the next great Yankee pitcher.

Anything that happens in New York or any other large market is blown completely out of proportion, including Chamberlain's abilities.

I personally find Papelbon more disturbing overall.

  4. Pitchers didn't do that kind of shit in Al Hrabosky's day.

  5. Maybe if he keeps going bananas every time he strikes someone out he'll eventually injure himself while celebrating a la Bill Grammatica. Now that I would want to read about. And watch several dozen times.

  6. I thought about that too Larry, that when he is pumping his fist and spinning around like a ballerina he would pull a muscle, but it did not happen. Or I thought that after he twisted around his knee would go the wrong way, like Grammatica, and then he would be on the grond writhing in pain.

I really, really super duper hated the Grammatica brothers. They were beyond annoying.

  7. Had you guys seen the Yankees middle relief before that? If you had to count on Kyle Farnsworth and Latroy Hawkins, you'd be happy when somebody managed to tie his shoes correctly, let alone record a strikeout.

  8. Ok, we can't make fun of Farnsworth, he is the only one who has the balls on that team to stand up to ManRam as he admires his homeruns for an hour at the plate.

Does anyone else think that ManRam is probably the nastiest looking player in the majors right now?
