this article is almost a week old; it's a look at former tennessee and wnba star chamique holdsclaw and her battle with depression. now i know the wnba is a low hanging fruit for people who like to joke about sports, but honestly: jeff, if you're reading this, please tell me how you expect people to believe the following exchange really happened.
When Holdsclaw left the Washington Mystics for "personal reasons" three years ago the anger among fans was palpable. How dare the star player miss out on a playoff run. Where was her heart? Her passion? According to the Washington Post, one passing motorist rolled down his window and yelled, "You need to get it together! You need to get back on the court!"
what? i live in d.c., i can promise you it's not exactly wnba-crazed. maybe it was 3 years ago, but i doubt it. one of two things is going on here:
1) whoever told the post that story (probably holdsclaw herself) is a liar.
2) there is someone living less than 10 miles from me who not only a huge washington mystics fan, but also a tremendous asshole who taunts wnba players in drive-by fashion! simply mind boggling.
